The House of Commons Library open day will take place on the 14 February 2024, inviting librarians and information officers to learn about our impartial information and research services.

Overview

We are pleased to announce that the House of Commons Library open day resumes in 2024, inviting librarians and information officers to learn about the impartial information and research services that we provide to Members of Parliament and their staff.

This full-day event is scheduled to include: talks and presentations by Library staff, a short tour of Parliament and a rare opportunity to visit the Members’ Library.

Attending the event

The open day is on Wednesday 14 February 2024. Further details of timings and security arrangements will be provided to successful applicants.

Who can attend the open day?

The open day is specifically aimed at people working in the library and information field, including:

  • Librarians and Assistant Librarians
  • Information Officers/Advisors/Analysts
  • Knowledge Management Officers
  • Researchers

As there are a limited number of places available, we will select successful applications based on your reasons for attending and your sector (to achieve parity between different sectors).

Cost

The cost of the open day will be £35 and will include refreshments and lunch.

To register your interest

To register your interest, please complete the application form and submit it by 10 December 2023.

Unfortunately, completing the application form does not guarantee you a place due to popular demand.

Successful applicants will be notified by 19 December and sent a link to confirm their place and make the payment by either a credit or debit card.

If you do not hear from us by then, please assume that we have not been able to offer you a place.

Visits will enable you to attend debates and watch committee hearings or tour the buildings.

Parliament has developed a series of virtual tours for you to explore some of its famous buildings and learn about the work and history of Parliament.
