The Penguin Hansard

In August 1940, Penguin Books began publication of wartime speeches in the Penguin Hansard. Volume 1 covered the first few months of the second world war, with the aim of providing “a record, true in substance and in spirit, of a great phase in the history of Parliament.” Five more volumes were published, with all content “taken verbatim from the House of Commons Official Report of Parliamentary Debates”.
