  • Description: This print depicts the fire that destroyed Parliament on 16 October 1834. It shows the spectacle from the Thames, where the fire reached its height from 11pm. Labels below the image indicate the buildings that are illustrated. From left to right can be seen John Soane\'s Parliament offices, the Painted Chamber, the House of Commons library, the residence of the Clerk of the House (Mr Ley), the east end of St. Stephen\'s chapel (the House of Commons Chamber), the Speaker\'s House, with Westminster Hall and Westminster Abbey behind.
