  • Description: Study of the accused for the First Trial by Jury, which was exhibited in 1843 in the Westminster Hall competition for the decoration of the Houses of Parliament. Cope won the £300 premium prize for this, and subsequently painted a series of frescoes in the House of Lords, the Upper Waiting Hall and the Peers\' Corridor.
