The Houses of Parliament is taking part in London Craft Week again by running special late afternoon tours which include meeting some of the highly-skilled members of the craft teams who conserve and maintain the furniture, furnishings and fabric of this historic building.
These 90 minute tours allow visitors to marvel at the wonderful frescoes, portraits, statues, thrones, fireplaces and furniture designed and created by craftsmen of a bygone era, and also discover some of the restoration techniques employed in their conservation.
Other highlights include meeting a project leader for the renovation of Westminster Hall and chatting to a member of the curator’s team about the mosaics of the UK’s four patron saints in Central Lobby.
The ‘Meet the Conservators’ tours will start at regular intervals between 4.30pm and 5.15pm on Friday 11 May 2018.
In a busy working building we occasionally have to change or cancel tours due to parliamentary business.
How to book tickets
There were only 100 places for this event and these are now fully booked.
