On Thursdays throughout December come and discover how the Palace of Westminster and Parliament celebrated Christmas in years gone by.
These entertaining and informative short ‘walk and talks’ last 30 minutes and are led by our Visitor Engagement Assistants.
They explore how the festive season has been enjoyed over the years, from sumptuous royal feasts to the ‘work as usual’ days of the Cromwell years.
Focusing on historical figures from William I to Queen Victoria and Prince Albert you will discover who influenced some of the Christmas customs that we still enjoy today.
Date and times of the festive talks
- Thursdays 6 and 13 December at 11am and 3pm
- Thursday 20 December at 11am, 1.30 and 3pm
How can I join one of the talks?
These free talks start in Westminster Hall. Places are limited and offered on a first come, first served basis. There is no advance booking.
Although the talks do not include access to the Commons Chamber or the Lords Chamber, on 6, 13 and 20 December, visitors are welcome to watch debates and committees.
