Speaker's House guided tours

Order! Order! See where the Speaker of the House of Commons lives and conducts official business, outside of the Chamber.

This guided tour offers you the unique opportunity see inside the incredible rooms and get up close to some of the magnificent artworks, including portraits of Speakers through the years. Your guide will share some lesser-known historical facts about the role of the Speaker - a role that has existed since 1377. You'll also see some suprising objects along they way and learn their origins and relationship to Parliament.

What does the tour cover? 

You will discover the history and traditions of the role of the Speaker and see the magnificent artworks on display including a unique set of 46 portraits of Speakers through the years.

This 75-minute fully accessible tour includes the Grand Staircase, the Crimson Drawing Room, the State Dining Room, and the State Bedroom.  There will be no seating in Speaker’s House for the duration of the tour. 

Are these tours family-friendly?

All are welcome on the Speaker’s House tours but please note that the tour content is best suited to those aged 16+. We offer family-friendly guided tours and multimedia tours of the Palace of Westminster.

When can I go on a tour?

Tours are running Monday to Saturday during Easter and Summer parliamentary recess periods. The earliest tour start time is 9:15am and last entry is 4:15pm. Tour dates and times depend on availability.
