Disabilities (2019)

Request

I'd like to know how many of your employees are disabled. I'd also like to know how many of these disabled employees are women, and how many are disabled men.

Response

Some information is held by the House of Commons.  Whilst all staff are invited to make a declaration regarding any disabilities they may have, this is not mandatory.  The House of Commons only holds figures relating to staff who have made a declaration, so these numbers may not represent the full number of staff with disabilities working in the House.

Data on this topic was gathered from staff surveys on 31 March 2019, which had an overall response rate of 77%. In total, 124 respondents declared that they have a disability. This is broken down by male and female as follows:

• 57 female respondents declared a disability with a 81% response rate
• 67 male respondents declared a disability with a 76% response rate
