Unparliamentary language (2023)
Request
Please provide me with the full current list of unparliamentary language, and highlight any words that have been added in the past five years.
Response
This information is not held by the House of Commons. The House does not keep a list of unparliamentary language, and we therefore hold no information regarding your request.
Additionally, it may help you to know that Paragraph 21.21 of Erskine May, the definitive source on parliamentary procedure, states that whether a word should be “regarded as unparliamentary depends on the context in which it is used”, and it is therefore not possible to keep a definitive list of unparliamentary language.
