Drink sales (2022)
Request
Could you please provide me with a full list of all alcohol purchased in Parliament's bars since January 31 2022?
Could you tell me the type of drink purchased and the cost of each?
Response
In the first instance please note that our response only deals with bars for which the House of Commons is responsible. Some bars on the parliamentary estate are the responsibility of the House of Lords, which is a separate public authority for the purposes of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA). You may therefore wish to consider forwarding your request to them, directed to foilords@parliament.uk.
This information is held by the House of Commons. We hold sales figures for alcoholic beverages at bars run by the House of Commons (the Strangers’ Bar, the Pugin Room and the Members’ Smoking Room), as well as the price at which each was sold. This information is attached, with the months of February and March included in one attachment and, because there was a price increase at the start of April, figures for that month included in the other.
Please note the following in relation to this data:
• These figures include VAT.
• These figures also include the sales of souvenir alcoholic drinks, if any were sold.
• The parliamentary estate and its catering venues are open to around 15,000 passholders. This includes Members of Parliament, their staff, House staff, civil servants, contractors, Peers, members of the Press Gallery and others. Catering venues are also open to a large number of non-pass holding visitors to Parliament.
