Drink sales (2020)
Request
Could you please provide me with a full list of all alcohol purchased in Parliament's bars between the 13th December 2019 and 24th January 2020?
Could you tell me the type of drink purchased and the cost of each?
Response
Please note that our response only deals with catering venues on the parliamentary estate for which the House of Commons is responsible. Some venues are the responsibility of the House of Lords, which is a separate public authority for the purposes of the Freedom of Information Act. You may wish to consider forwarding your request to them. Requests for information relating to the House of Lords should be directed to FOILORDS@parliament.uk.
This information is held by the House of Commons.
The full list of alcohol purchased from venues on the parliamentary estate managed by the House of Commons between 13 December 2019 and 24 January 2020. This includes the Pugin Room, Press Bar, Smoking Room and Strangers Bar.
Please note that the customers who use the on-site catering venues do include some of the 650 elected Members of Parliament. However, they also include around 14,5000 other passholders (MP's staff, House staff, Civil servants, Contractors, Peers', member of the Press Gallery, etc.), as well as a large number of non-pass holding visitors to Parliament.
It may also help you to know that the House of Commons publishes sales of drinks and pre-packaged items on our web pages. This is to reduce the burden on the tax payer to respond to common requests for information about these items. This publication, along with other frequently requested information, can be found on our Transparency pages
