Commons Catering events booking data
In the interests of transparency, the House of Commons Catering Service is committed to proactively publishing information about catered events and functions held within its events venues on the Commons estate. Published annually in October.
This data covers events that have taken place in the House of Commons hospitality and events spaces, including events sponsored by MPs on behalf of external individuals and organisations.
Private events data is not included in these publications. Private events are booked by a range of private individuals, including MPs acting in a private capacity, for events such as weddings and other personal celebrations.
Whilst the House of Commons holds information about these bookings, it is the personal data of those private individuals. Therefore, the information is exempted from release by virtue of section 40 (2) FOIA, to prevent prejudice to data protection principles in Article 5 of the General Data Protection Regulations.
This is an absolute exemption and the public interest test does not apply.
