Speaker's correspondence (2016)


Copies of all letters/emails from members of the public to the Speaker regarding PMQs and the general conduct of MPs in the Commons, including references to noise, shouting, rudeness, and the speaker's conduct in dealing with unruly MPs. I am aware that all letters/emails are routinely destroyed/deleted every three months, so am requesting all correspondence that is still held at the time of this request.

Please note that some personal details of individuals, including those of the enquirer, have been redacted. This information is exempt by virtue of section 40 (2) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the exemption for personal information), as disclosure of this information to the public generally, in the House’s view, would not be consistent with the data protection principles in the Data Protection Act 1998. This is an absolute exemption and the public interest test does not apply.
