Operation Marquee 2 (2020)

Request

Could I please request a breakdown for the following information:

"The total spend exclusively on Operation Marquee by the House of Commons for this period was £1,583,521 (excluding VAT)."

  1. Would it be possible to tell me what this money is being spent on?
  2. And the annual amount for how much has been spent by year?

Response

In the first instance please note that while spending on Operation Marquee is carried out both by the House of Commons and the House of Lords, each are separate public authorities for the purposes of the Freedom of Information Act 2000. This response only covers costs incurred by the House of Commons.

  1. Would it be possible to tell me what this money is being spent on? [without breaching the act]
This information is held by the House of Commons.
Annual expenditure related to Operation Marquee encompasses all the usual areas of planning and logistic preparations required to deliver a ceremonial event of this scale and historical importance. As previously stated in our earlier response, the arrangements for Operation Marquee are kept under regular review and the planning for this event is a continuous process involving a large number of people from across Parliament and beyond. Any further detail on the expenditure would reveal information of the nature we withheld in our response to your previous request.
  2. And the annual amount for how much has been spent by year? [without breaching the act]
This information is held by the House of Commons. Spending on Operation Marquee, broken down by year
