Members training (2019)
The Gemma White QC independent inquiry report into bullying and harassment of MPs' Parliamentary staff has found that 34 of 360 MPs have attended or booked into the Valuing Everyone training designed to support the new Behaviour Code introduced in July 2018.
Please can you provide the names of those 34 MPs who did attend or book the Valuing Everyone training?
You have asked the House of Commons for the names of Members of Parliament attending or booking the Valuing Everyone training course before the publication of the Gemma White QC report on 11 July 2019.
The names of these Members is their personal data. To provide you with the information you seek, we have sought the consent of these individuals to disclose their information, in accordance with our obligations under the law. Please find attached a list of the 26 MPs who have consented to the release of this information.
The names of the remaining 8 Members who have not provided their consent is exempt in accordance with section 40 (2) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA), because we have concluded that the disclosure of this information would not be consistent with the data protection principle found in Article 5.1(a) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Please note that various factors, including the current parliamentary recess, may have caused delays in some Members providing their consent within the deadline afforded by FOIA.
It may interest to you to know that all Members who attended this training did so voluntarily to contribute to the success of the scheme and to lead by example. Many attended as senior Members of the Panel of Chairs upon the suggestion of the Deputy Speaker to this effect. Further, Members have only had access to this training since April 2019. Pilot sessions for Members were conducted in April and May, with training opened to all Members only in June 2019. Since this date, Members have continued to book onto and attend this training.
