Response

The number of times MPs have dialled the Speaking Clock is not held by the House of Commons.  We are unable to distinguish between calls made by Members as opposed to calls made by other individuals working in or visiting their offices.

However, to be helpful, we have provided details below of relevant calls made from a telephone line/number allocated to Members’ offices, as follows:

  • During the period 1 September 2014 to 31 August 2015 there were 22 calls made to the Speaking Clock from a line/number allocated to a MP, at a total cost of £5.72.
  • During the period 1 September 2013 to 31 August 2014 there were 8 calls made to the Speaking Clock from a line/number allocated to a MP, at a total cost of £2.08.
