Renewable Energies (2016)

Request

Please can you tell me how much money has the House of Commons has invested in renewable energies for itself. Please can you also state how much money it is estimated is saved because of the use of renewable energy and what specifically it has bought.

Response

1) How much money the House of Commons has invested in renewable energies for itself.

And

2) What specifically has it bought.

This information is held by the House of Commons.  As part of the Cast Iron Roof Repair project, solar panels have been installed on a flat roof adjacent to the River Front at the southern end of the Palace of Westminster.  The 36 solar panels are Sunforte Photovaic cells.  The House of Commons has invested £23,018, excluding VAT, on these solar panels.

3) How much money it is estimated is saved because of the use of renewable energy.

This information is not held by the House of Commons.  An estimate of money saved because of the use of renewable energy is not possible as the solar panels have not yet been switched on and, therefore, no money has been/is being saved.
