Waste management (2018)

I would like to know which company provides the UK's House of Commons with waste management services and at what cost please?

Although the House of Commons and House of Lords are separate public authorities for the purposes of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) under Schedule 1 (which is used to define ‘public authority’ under the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 s.2(2)), waste management across the parliamentary estate is a bicameral issue. This response therefore covers waste management services across the whole of Parliament.

This information is held by the House of Commons. Waste management services have been provided under a joint contract to both the House of Commons and the House of Lords by Bywaters (Leyton) Limited since 1 November 2016. This is a 5-year contract, securing provision of these services until 31 October 2021. The total cost to Parliament during the contract term will be £2,241,891.80.

It may further interest you to know that the current, joint spend by both Houses against this contract is currently £901,890.00, which stands at 42.23% of the total contract award.
