Please note, the House of Commons Finance team only hold relevant information from 2014 onwards, in accordance with Parliament’s document retention policy. Also, please be aware that the House of Commons and the House of Lords are two separate authorities for the purpose of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, and we can only answer for debts owing to the House of Commons, for events held in House of Commons catering venues.  If you wish to request information relating to debts owing to the House of Lords, please contact them directly.

  1. The total amount of personal catering debt written off as unlikely to be recovered since 2013/14
    Information from the 2014/15 financial year onwards is held by the House of Commons. The total amount of personal catering debt written-off between 1 April 2014 and the end of October 2018 is £379.65.
  2. The number of such debts that have been written off, and a breakdown of how many were owed by MPs, peers, staff, third parties etc
    This information, for the period detailed above, is held by the House of Commons, Table 1.
  3. The three largest amounts written off, together with the type of individual (MP, peer, staff etc) and whom owed them
    This information, for the period detailed above, is held by the House of Commons, Table 2.

    Information from the 2014/15 financial year onwards is held by the House of Commons. The total amount of banqueting debt written-off as unlikely to be recovered is £17,019.58.

    This information is held by the House of Commons. The requested information is contained in Table 3.
