Registers of Interests roadmap
The Register of Interests roadmap shows the work, recent releases, and future focus of the Parliamentary Digital Service's team.
Our priorities
The team are working to provide digital support for the Registers of Interests.
Our priorities are to improve:
- the structure and consistency of Register data
- how we make that data available to the public
Our focus
The Register of Members' Financial Interests was the team's first focus. However, we are also working to extend this digital model to all Registers of Interests across both Houses.
This roadmap focuses on public-facing outputs. But the team also works to refine the internal portals used to register interests.
Read more about this work and how we are changing the way Members register their interests on the PDS blog.
Recent releases
API
The first public release of the Registers of Interests API v1. This allows users to query the Register data by parameters like category, Member, and date. It will also underpin future interests data use across Parliament’s website.
Downloadable dataset
We introduced a CSV version of each Register, from the start of the 2024 parliamentary session. This supports easier analysis and understanding of the Register data.
New publications pages
The team redesigned Register of Members' Financial Interests publications pages to improve user experience. The pages now align with the design and content principles of Parliament’s website.
What we're working on now
-
Improving how we display interests data on the webpages for Members of the House of Commons.
-
Iterations to the Register of Interests API, in response to usage and feedback.
-
Investigating requirements for the Register of Interests of Members' Secretaries and Research Assistants.
Future areas of focus
The below indicates some broad areas of future development.
- Investigate level of interest in extra ways to search and filter interests data.
- Explore how best to support all Registers with this digital model.
- Decommission plan for legacy tools and spaces.
We welcome feedback on what would be of most value to you as a user of these transparency Registers.
