Commons Library open day 2020 for librarians and information officers

The House of Commons Library open day 2020 will enable librarians and information officers to visit and hear about the professional and impartial information and research service for Members of Parliament and their staff provided by the Library to MPs and their staff.

This is a full-day event that is scheduled to include: talks and presentations by Library staff, a short tour of Parliament and a rare opportunity to see the Members' Library.

You can find out more information about the Library and what we offer Members and their staff on the Commons Library website.

Attending the event

The open day is on Wednesday 19 February 2020. Further details of timings and security arrangements will be provided to successful applicants.

Who can attend the open day

The open day is aimed at people currently working as information professionals, including:

  • Librarians
  • Information Officers/Advisors/Analysts
  • Knowledge Management Officers
  • Researchers

As there are a limited number of places available, we aim to offer places from a wide range of people currently working across the different library and information sectors.

Cost

Register your interest

To register your interest, please complete the application form and submit it by 29 November 2019.

Successful applicants only will be informed by 13 December 2019.

Unfortunately, completing the application form does not guarantee you a place due to popular demand in previous years.

Successful applicants will be notified and sent a link to confirm their place and make the payment by either a credit or debit card.

If you do not hear from us by 13 December, please assume that we have not been able to offer you a place.

Public visits and tours of Parliament

If you do not fall within the categories listed above but are interested in visiting Parliament, further information is available on the Visiting Parliament page.

Visits will enable you to attend debates and watch committee hearings, or tour the buildings.

Parliament has developed a series of virtual tours for you to explore some of its famous buildings and learn about the work and history of Parliament.
