The Lord Speaker

The Lord Speaker chairs daily business in the House of Lords chamber from his seat on the Woolsack. He also acts as an ambassador for the Lords and chairs the Commission which provides high-level strategic and political direction for the Lords Administration. 

The post of Lord Speaker was established in 2006. Lord McFall of Alcluith was elected by Lords members in 2021 to a five-year term as the fourth Lord Speaker.
