UK Smart meters are complex devices. The architecture has been designed with the meter at the heart of the system, effectively embodying the billing system rather than taking advantage of the communictions system to keep the meter simple and locating the 'brains' at the head end. (As in the Irish system.) Complexity brings technical risk and delay and hinders future expansion of the system. (In order to upgrade the Irish system, all that is required is a software update to the head end.) This complexity will result in further delays. Complexity also allows security vulnerabilities to creep in and the UK system is susceptible to cutting off every home in the country (or a significant population of homes.) The Dutch removed the switch from their meters having evaluated the risk and the Germans have specified that their system must comply with the Common Criteria standards for security. The meters do not provide voltage data and hence do not provide the one important parameter vital for smart grid operation and if they did, the DCC could not supply it in real time so no use for control purposes. Testing of the system has only just begun. We can expect further delays to the roll out as interoperability issues arise.

There is irefutable proof, that these Smart Meters cause untold health problems.I have M.E./ CFS & Fibromyalgia. Two years ago, on the advice of a good friend, i systematically went round my house with a hand held meter that reads the EMFs .... I immediately got rid of my cordless Dect phone - which i discovered was pulsing out Radiation ALL THE TIME!! and made some other changes in my home. I live very near a TETRA Tower and the fallout from that alone on my whole families health has been quite horrendous! I DO NOT CONSENT to having a silent killer installed in my home,period!! We pay the energy companies for their services, REMEMBER?? NO to Smart Meters!. We are Not being told the truth either about all the other Agendas for these death meters. You will be in a situation, where your'Energy can be cut off 'Remotely. The Advocates of these meters say; you will have up-to-date readings and no more estimates etc ... You can already do that online, i do this 4times a month - put my readings into my online account & get instant up-to-date reports!.I'm sure all else has been said, the WHO has classed the energy of s/meters as a definate carcinogen - so many people are dying of Cancer,, 1in4 at current rates, why on earth would we want to subject our families and ourselves to this?? . NO TO SMART METERS - Period!.

One has to wonder whether those in government, have been effected by wireless radiation, at the cellular lever. Despite the mountains of data from independent scientists highlighting the negative health effects of - even low level non-ionizing radiation, the huge costs involved, coupled with the mass invasion of privacy, I begin to wonder who is actually running the country, the democratically elected MPs or corporate Industry. The potential dangers to human health on a large scale using technology is very concerning. While technology can benefit humanity it also as the potential to harm humanity where proper and extensive research has not been carried out. The correct decisions need to be made, taking into account that long term good health in humans and effective teaching is more important than short term currency profit and what is promoted as ease of use often results in a situation of information overload doing little to change use of power habits.

I suffer from cfs/multiple chemical sensitivity and a knock on of other health problems. Even before illness I noticed a sensitivity around electrical frequencies which has become worse.Something like the smart meter would at the very least cause constant verigo. e question has to be raised if drug companies need to test drugs a minimum of 10 years before they come on the market(and even then the side effects are questionable) why are these machines being introduced into peoples homes without proper tests connected with the health of the people involved over a period of 10 years or more.It smacks of the early misinformation on atom and nuclear weapons.We are not your guinea pigs.

I received a letter telling me the fantastic news that Smart Meters will soon be installed in my area. The leaflet supplies a bullet list of all the fantastic super wonderful benefits for having this installed, in not only your home but every premises in the country. Unfortunately this should be illegal as there is a mountain of scientific evidence that RF is highly toxic to humans and every other form of life. It is genotoxic and the effects, which are bad enough now are cumulative and could result in several generations time in problems with species being able to reproduce at all. This isn't scare mongering this is based on scientific evidence. This is being covered up by the WHO and the Telecoms industry and the radiation council in the UK and in every other country so that someone somewhere can make a lot of money. Never mind the people who will get cancer and birth defects and MS,and god knows what else, and nobody will attribute it to the cause as the smoking gun is invisible. The evidence is out there, but damn the evidence, damn the public we are just going to do this anyway. What kind of bleeping bleep bleepers do you all think you are? It is beyond immoral to even consider rolling this system out and it should be illegal and I sincerely hope that when it does roll out, which it will, eventually the people responsible for foisting this massive pollution on a world when we need to be reducing it as much as possible will go to prison for the rest of their lives, preferably in a cell with a wall full of smart meters, and when they get sick a doctor will periodically come in and tell them that there is nothing wrong with them and the devices are completely safe. You could say I have strong views on this subject. The public are being lied to. It is an absolute total and utter disgrace. I have to verify I am human now, can you all do the same?

Without warning, a smart meter was put on the back of my home by the electrical company. It was very close to where I spent a lot of time in the dining room & kitchen. After 3 weeks, I started having severe symptoms in my head that I described as "soldiers trying to break through my forehead" and it felt worse from thinking or moving. It was awful and debilitating! Sometimes I'd get full on dizziness that made me fall to the floor plus my blood pressure was elevated (I normally have lower than "normal" blood pressure). It was only out of desperation that I checked my meters some months later and discovered the smart meter. And when contacting the company (who refused to mover or change it) the timing of the symptoms fit perfectly. I've had to spend a great deal of time and money making myself feel well again in my home. Thankfully I've found some EMF filters and have been able to shield the meter from inside my home. This is definitely a human health and safety issue.
