Parliament and the Knowledge Exchange Framework and Concordat

Parliament is aware of both the Knowledge Exchange Framework and Concordat for the Advancement of Knowledge Exchange in Higher Education in England.

Parliament and the KE Framework and KE Concordat

The UK Parliament and the devolved legislatures in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are keen to support academics to engage with their work. Since January 2019, colleagues from the UK legislatures have been interacting with Research England around the KE Framework, and working together to develop comprehensive guidelines around how researchers and higher education institutions can conduct knowledge exchange with legislatures. These guidelines take the form of a short briefing note: ‘Knowledge Exchange and Legislatures'.

It is intended that this briefing will inform Research England as they continue to evolve the KE Framework. The briefing is also intended to help universities and researchers to develop KE strategies and activities relating to engagement with legislatures.

More information about UK Parliament's work around the Research Excellence Framework can be found here.

Research Impact and Legislatures

The briefing was co-authored with the Devolved Administrations, and has fed into REF 2021 draft guidelines on submissions and panel criteria.
