Are employers doing enough to support workers of all ages?

The Select Committee on Intergenerational Fairness and Provision takes evidence from the Confederation of British Industry as it explores what employers can do both to support career development for younger employees and support older workers to stay in work longer.

Questions the Committee is likely to ask include:
- How the employer/employee relationship has changed in recent decades and whether both sides now expect more flexibility from each other.
- Whether employers are doing enough to provide in-work training to their employees, especially at the beginning of their career.
- How employers can be encouraged to reward employee loyalty given that young people are less likely to move jobs than they have been in the past.
- The extent to which age discrimination is a barrier to longer working lives.
