In its first public evidence session of the new Parliament, the Public Administration Select Committee will hear from civil service unions and Cabinet Office ministers about legislation introduced last week to cap redundancy payments for civil servants. At a time of expected large job losses, the session is likely to explore the effect of the proposed legislation and the scope for a negotiated agreement. The Committee will also be hearing from Francis Maude and Oliver Letwin about the Government’s plans for reform of the public sector.
