Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

Parliament's Education Outreach team can inspire and engage your students in their political literacy lessons by running workshops in schools around the county.

Pupils with Special Education Needs and Disabilities

We believe that every pupil has a democratic entitlement to learn about their Parliament and we work with many pupils with different needs.

These needs might include:

  • English as an Additional Language
  • Autism
  • Sensory impairment
  • Behavioural, Social and Emotional Difficulties
  • Mobility issues, including wheelchair users

We welcome both individual needs supported within a mainstream class setting and whole classes with SEND.

Visit Adjustments

Through discussions with one of our friendly Regional Outreach Officers, who will deliver your session, we work to make our visit suitable for the pupils in your class. We aim to provide an accessible and enjoyable learning experience.

Some possible visit adjustments include:

  • Pitch/content of workshop
  • Length of tour and/or workshop

Enquire about a Visit

Enquire about a visit by completing our expression of interest form. Be sure to put any learning requirements in the comments box at the end of the application form. We reserve the right to prioritise certain requests to guarantee a proportionate geographic and demographic split of visitors.

We would also welcome your pupils to visit Parliament. Explore our SEND visit Parliament page for more information.

For any other enquiries about our outreach visits, please contact educationoutreach@parliament.uk.
