That this House commends Leeds Bradford International Airport on its 80th anniversary; notes that the Yeadon Aerodrome was opened in 1931 and has been Yorkshire's biggest international airport since; recognises that following the outbreak of the Second World War all civil flying ceased and the runways were used for test flights for the thousands of aircraft built adjacent to the airport, including the Bristol Blenheim (250 built), the Lancaster bomber (695 built), the Anson (over 4,500 built), the York (45 built) and the Lincoln (25 built); further notes that in 1986 the first Concorde flight from Paris landed at Leeds Bradford International Airport heralding a new era of aviation travel; further recognises that since 2000 it has been the home of Yorkshire Air Ambulance Service, helping to provide an effective and efficient service for the needs of residents and visitors to the Yorkshire area; and commends all of the staff at the airport for their good work and wishes them all the best in the future.
