That this House warmly congratulates Steve Robinson of Ely, Cardiff, for his astonishing feat in winning the WBO world featherweight title, having only accepted the contest at 36 hours notice to avoid the cancellation of the title promotion at Washington, Co. Durham, following the tragic news that Ruben Palacio, the then-reigning champion had been tested HIV-positive; commends both contestants for the vacant title, Steve Robinson and John Davison, for a remarkably skilful and sporting contest; welcomes the gesture of both Robinson and his trainer Ronnie Rush to dedicating his victory to Ruben Palacio and his family; and believes he will be a champion who will be a credit to the sport.
