The Government does not hold data on the total number of hospital patients in England who have been discharged from hospital into nursing and care homes. Similarly, the Government does not hold data on how many patients, of those discharged from hospital into residential care, subsequently died from COVID-19 or other causes.

This is an unprecedented global pandemic, and we will continue to work closely with the sector to keep our guidance under review as the pandemic goes on.
