The Government has committed to increasing the number of police officers by an additional 20,000 over the next three years.

Up to 6,000 additional officers will be recruited in the first wave by the end of 2020/21 and will be shared among the 43 territorial police forces in England and Wales.

The allocation of officers across England and Wales is yet to be confirmed.
