Named Day

'Named day' questions only occur in the House of Commons. The MP tabling the question specifies the date on which they should receive an answer. MPs may not table more than five named day questions on a single day.

To ask the Secretary of State for Education, pursuant to the Prime Minister's oral contribution of 31 October 2018, Official Report, what the evidential basis is for the Prime Minister's statement that £1.4 billion of additional funding was committed to schools in this financial year.

The core schools budget in 2017-18 was almost £41 billion. This budget rose to £42.4 billion in 2018-19. This means that in 2018-19, the department will be spending £1.4 billion more through the core schools budget than in 2017-18.
