To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what estimate he has made of the number of asylum seekers registered to attend English for Speakers of Other Languages classes in London (a) six months and (b) 12 months after arriving in the UK in each of the last three years.

The Department of Education funds English language provision through the Adult Education Budget. This is allocated to local providers to use in line with local needs.

Government does not centrally hold data on the number of asylum seekers accessing English language provision in different regions by date of arrival.
