The UK is committed to protecting and promoting the rights of LGBT people and supporting the legal, cultural and social change required to enable equality for LGBT people. We are concerned about the situation for LGBT people in Egypt. Our Ambassador in Cairo raised the arrests of LGBT people and forced anal examinations with the Egyptian Government in December 2017. Ministers in London have also raised the issue. The Egyptian Government is well aware of our position on LGBT rights and we continue to call on them to uphold and protect the rights of all minorities in the country.
