Financial Penalties for aggravated breach of employment law, under section 16 of the Enterprise and Regulatory Reform Act 2013, were introduced on 6 April 2014. Financial penalties are intended to be used in exceptional circumstances where employers have deliberately flouted the law, and whose behaviour is malicious or negligent.

Three have been imposed to date. One has been paid. The other two are currently unpaid.
