That this House expresses serious concern about the allegations that consultants faced intimidation when, on 31st July 1989, the Pan Liverpool Review Body proposed the closure of the Accident and Emergency Unit at Broadgreen Hospital, Liverpool; calls for a thorough investigation into allegations that minutes of that meeting record that if individual consultants refuse to co-operate they should be left unresourced by district or region; and calls for the resignation of Duncan Nichol, Chief Executive of the NHS Management Executive, who was present at the meeting, should the allegations prove to be correct.
