Questions
The Lords drew attention to support for the live music industry, the removal of VAT exemptions for independent schools, dance careers for young people from deprived backgrounds, improving social care provision and access to care and technology for people with diabetes.
Bills
Members began to examine the Border Security, Asylum and Immigration Bill, and continued to check and change the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill, Employment Rights Bill and Public Authorities (Fraud, Error and Recovery) Bill. Plus, the Lords debated the key principles and main purpose of the Planning and Infrastructure Bill.
Debates
The quality and quantity of music education in state schools was on the agenda.
Committees
- The Economic Affairs Committee hosted the Governor of the Bank of England Andrew Bailey as part of its annual session.
- Continuing its inquiry on the rule of law, the Constitution Committee heard from Chris Nelson, police and crime commissioner at Gloucestershire Constabulary, and Serena Kennedy, chief constable at Merseyside Police.
- The Public Services Committee spoke to Baroness Sherlock, Minister of State at Department of Work and Pensions, as part of its investigation on child maintenance.

The Lords considered the Contracts for Difference (Miscellaneous Amendments) (No. 2) Regulations 2025, and an associated 'motion to regret' put forward by Baroness Bennett of Manor Castle. After the discussion, the motion to regret was withdrawn.
Tuesday

Lords members questioned the government on:
- dance careers for young people from deprived backgrounds
- nutritional and marketing standards for baby foods
- social care provision
- sporting activities for young people.
Debates
The Lords discussed the quality and quantity of music education in state schools.
Legislation
Members continued to examine the Employment Rights Bill.
Statements
Following statements in the Commons, members pressed the government on the Israel-Iran conflict, and UK infrastructure.

- removal of VAT exemption for independent schools
- Westminster's Restoration and Renewal programme
- perinatal mental health services in England
- risks to GP services and NHS costs.
Legislation
The Lords debated the key principles and main purpose of the Planning and Infrastructure Bill.
From 4.15pm in Grand Committee, work away from the chamber, members continued to check and change the Public Authorities (Fraud, Error and Recovery) Bill.
Thursday

The Lords questioned the government on:
- promoting public information on allergens in England and Wales
- opportunities for staff employed by NHS and social care agencies
- access to care and technology for people with diabetes
- prolonged periods of extreme heat in the UK.
Legislation
Members begin to examine the Border Security, Asylum and Immigration Bill.
Statement
Following a statement in the Commons, Lords members pressed the government on the national security strategy.
