Questions

The Lords quizzed the government on social energy tariffs, removal of cladding from high-rise buildings, foreign care worker visas, wild camping in national parks, and bottom trawling and dredging in marine protected areas.

Bills

The Lords continued to check and change the Employment Rights Bill, Public Authorities (Fraud, Error and Recovery) Bill, and Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill at committee stage.

Committees

  • The Home-based Working Committee spoke to experts from Zoom, NHS employers, and e-Toro UK, as part of its investigation on home-based working.
  • Hearing from government ministers, the Communications and Digital Committee continued to consider the key actions required to enhance media literacy skills across the UK population. 
  • The European Affairs Committee heard from President of the National Farmers Union (NFU) Tom Bradshaw, and Professor of Environmental Law at University of Sussex Emily Lydgate, as part of its enquiry on the UK-EU reset.

The Lords continued line by line examination of the Employment Rights Bill.

From 3.45pm in Grand Committee, work away from the chamber, the Lords examined the Public Authorities (Fraud, Error and Recovery) Bill.

Following a statement in the House of Commons, members pressed the government on the conflict in the Middle East.

Tuesday

Questions

The Lords questioned the government on:

  • specialist branch of learning disabilities nursing
  • registration and insurance relating to privately owned e-scooters
  • removal of cladding from high-rise buildings
  • funding of international vaccine programmes.

Legislation

The Lords continued to check and change the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill and began to 'tidy up' the Holocaust Memorial Bill.

From 3.45pm in Grand Committee, the Lords considered regulations on:

  • Medical Devices and Blood Safety and Quality (Fees Amendment) Regulations 2025
  • Human Medicines (Amendments Relating to Hub and Spoke Dispensing etc.) Regulations 2025
  • Pollution Prevention and Control (Fees) (Miscellaneous Amendments) Regulations 2025
  • Casinos (Gaming Machines and Mandatory Conditions) Regulations 2025.

Following a statement in the Commons, members debated Gibraltar.

Wednesday

From 3pm

Questions

Members drew attention to:

  • safe return of abducted Ukrainian children forcibly deported to Russia and Belarus
  • foreign care worker visas
  • wild camping in National Parks
  • child sexual abuse and rape gangs.

Legislation

The Lords continued line by line examination of the Employment Rights Bill.

From 4.15pm in Grand Committee, work away from the chamber, the Lords checked and changed the Public Authorities (Fraud, Error and Recovery) Bill.

Statement

Following a statement in the Commons, members questioned the government on the Casey Report into child sexual exploitation.

Thursday

Questions

Lords members question the government on:

  • derelict boats abandoned on rivers and estuaries
  • building social homes
  • bottom trawling and dredging in marine protected areas
  • disabled passengers and self-driving vehicles.

Legislation

Members continued to examine the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill.
