Members of the House of Lords finished their consideration of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association and International Committee of the Red Cross (Status) Bill, at committee stage on Wednesday 11 September.

The aim of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association and International Committee of the Red Cross (Status) Bill is to redefine the CPA and ICRC so that the government can grant them privileges and immunities in a similar manner to other international organisations of which the UK is a member.

Line by line examination

Committee stage is a thorough examination of the individual parts (clauses) of the bill.

Proposed changes

No amendments were proposed ahead of committee stage. As no changes were discussed, the bill progressed directly to third reading.

This process is known as 'order of commitment discharged'.
