Lords concludes examination of Automated Vehicles Bill

The Automated Vehicles Bill had its third reading, a chance for members to make sure the eventual law is effective, workable and without loopholes, on Monday 19 February.    

The Automated Vehicles Bill will implement the recommendations of the four-year review carried out by the Law Commissions of England & Wales and Scotland to set the legal framework for the safe deployment of self-driving vehicles across Great Britain.

Third reading

Third reading is a chance for members to ‘tidy up' a bill, making small changes to ensure it is effective.   

No amendments (changes) were suggested ahead of third reading. Members discussed the progress of the bill at the conclusion of its stages through the House of Lords.
