This week in the House of Lords:
- in questions, members challenged the government on support for people with eating disorders, increasing the National Living Wage and delivering COVID 19 vaccinations to school pupils
- In an urgent question, members pressed the government on allegations that Christine Lee influenced changes to the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006 on behalf of China
- the House of Lords asked government to think again on police protest powers, gender hate crime and drink and needle spiking, with votes on changes to the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill as members completed detailed checks
- line by line check of the Health and Care Bill continued with members discussing imbalance between the provision of mental and physical healthcare, HIV and Aids services and integrated care boards.

- restoring a ceasefire between Ukrainian government forces and separatists in eastern Ukraine
- supply chain issues in the food and farming sector
- monitoring devolved governments' expenditure
- the use of the pesticide thiamethoxam for sugar beet cultivation.
Legislation
Members continue line by line check of the Health and Care Bill as committee stage continues.
Debate
In Grand Committee, work away from the chamber, members will debate:
- the role of social media in the deaths of UK children
- current relations with the government of Qatar
- subsidies and licensing decisions relating to the oil and gas industry
- regulating the use of e-scooters.
Wednesday 19 January
Questions
Members questioned the government on:
- destabilising activities of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps
- killings by Colombian police during 2020/2021 protests
- remediation and repair of coal tips in Wales
- limiting bonuses for water company executives.
In an urgent question, members pressed the government on allegations that Christine Lee influenced changes to the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006 on behalf of China
Legislation
Members began final examination of the Northern Ireland (Ministers, Elections and Petitions of Concern) Bill as report stage starts.
House of Lords debate the main purposes of the Subsidy Control Bill at second reading.

- COVID-19: entry to venues and events
- COVID-19: self-isolation
- train driving licences and certificates
- motor vehicle driving licences

Tuesday 18 January
Legislation
Members continued line by line examination of the Health and Care Bill as committee stage continued.
Questions
At 2.30pm members will question the government on:
- EU-UK Partnership Council
- the professional use of peat
- life expectancy projections and state pension age
- lockdown regulations: equality of treatment by police.
There was an urgent question to the government on the historic underpayment of benefits following a question in the Commons.
Statement
Members questioned the government following a statement in the Commons on Ukraine.
Monday 17 January
Questions
Members questioned the government on:
- improving support for people with, and at risk of, eating disorders
- sustaining the increase in the National Living Wage
- delivering COVID-19 vaccinations to school pupils
- effective sick pay systems.
Legislation
Members concluded final examination of the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill on the final day of report stage.
Debate
In Grand Committee, work away from the chamber, members debated the agreement between the UK, USA and Australia for the Exchange of Naval Nuclear Propulsion information (AUKUS agreement).
