The Weightman Report

Following the nuclear incident at Japan’s Fukushima Dai-chi site, the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change formally asked Mike Weightman to provide a report to Government on the implications and lessons learnt for the UK nuclear industry.

The Weightman Report was independently produced by Dr Mike Weightman and the Office of Nuclear Regulation and was published on 11 October 2011. An interim report was published in May 2011.

A copy of the report and related documents can be found on the Office of Nuclear Regulation website.

Urgent questions

Urgent questions are asked at the end of Question Time. If something has happened, normally a matter of public importance, which an MP believes requires an immediate answer from a government minister, they may apply to the Speaker to ask an urgent question.

If the Speaker agrees, the question will be asked at the end of Question Time.
