Backbench business debate on rural broadband

Rory Stewart, Conservative MP for Penrith and The Border, introduced a Backbench Business debate in the House of Commons on Thursday 19 May on broadband and mobile coverage in rural areas

Backbench Business Committee

The House of Commons established the Backbench Business Committee on 15 June 2010. The Committee has responsibility for scheduling debates that are devoted to backbench business in the House of Commons Chamber and Westminster Hall.


Debates are an opportunity for MPs to discuss government policy, proposed new laws and current issues. It allows MPs to voice the concerns and interests of their constituents.
