Parliament holds advanced legislation seminar

08 October 2010

Parliamentary Outreach will hold a free advanced legislation seminar in London on Monday 8 November, which will cover amendments to Bills, European and delegated legislation.

The event forms part of Parliament’s efforts to encourage engagement with legislative scrutiny. The seminar is being held in response to feedback received at recent Public Bill workshops.

What the advanced legislation seminar will cover

The workshop will include information on:

  • the processes by which delegated and European legislation are scrutinised and made
  • how amendments are introduced and selected
  • what opportunities exist for engagement and influence

The workshop is free to attend and open to any individual or organisation with an interest in learning more about the subjects covered. A basic level of Parliamentary understanding will be assumed.

Where and when

The event will take place in Portcullis House on the Parliamentary estate from 9am until 12 midday. Registration will take place between 9am and 9.30am, with the first presentation beginning at 9.30am.

Further information and booking

For more details on the seminar, please call Richard Ward on 020 7219 1658, or email to book a place. If you have a question on any of the subjects due to be covered, please feel free to submit it in advance.

Parliamentary Outreach spreads awareness of the work, processes and relevance of the institution of Parliament, encouraging greater engagement between the public and the House of Commons and House of Lords.
