Science, technology and engineering: Lords debate

Lord Haskel (Labour) will call attention to the contribution of science, technology and engineering to the UK, in a debate this Thursday, 4 June, in the House of Lords.

Lord Drayson will speak on behalf of the Government.

Members scheduled to take part include:

  • Lord Crisp (Crossbench); Permanent Secretary for the Department of Health
  • Baroness Greenfield (Crossbench); Professor of pharmacology, Oxford University, and Director of the Royal Institution
  • Lord Rees of Ludlow (Crossbench); President of the Royal Society
  • Viscount Montgomery of Alamein (Crossbench); former Director of Northern Engineering Industries
  • Baroness Wall of New Barnet (Labour); works with Semta, the Sector Skills Council for Science, Engineering and Manufacturing Technologies
  • Lord De Mauley (Conservative); Opposition spokesperson for Business and Enterprise
  • Lord Drayson (Labour); Minister of State for Innovation, Universities and Skills
