Lords methane inquiry focuses on waste management

The House of Lords Environment and Climate Change Committee will continue its inquiry into methane by focusing on waste management on Wednesday 27 March.
The session will take place from 10am. It can be followed live or afterwards on Parliament TV or in person in the Palace of Westminster (committee room 3).
Giving evidence will be:
- Professor Sandra Estevez, Professor in Bioprocess Technology for Resource Recovery: Energy and Materials at the Sustainable Environment Research Centre, University of South Wales;
- William Maxwell, Waste Projects Manager, South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse District Council;
- Paul Thompson, Head of Renewable Transport Fuels & Landfill Gas, Association for Renewable Energy and Clean Technology;
- Jacob Hayler, Executive Director, Environmental Services Association;
- Claire Shrewsbury, Director of Insights & Innovation, WRAP.
Questions from the committee will cover the following areas:
- Methane sources in the waste sector;
- Overview of the UK’s emissions from the waste sector to date;
- Minimising waste in the UK;
- Opportunities for reducing emissions in the waste sector.
