Friday 24 March 2023

On Monday 27 March the House of Lords Committee on the Integration of Primary and Community Care will take evidence from witnesses including Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester.

The Committee will hold two sessions, the first looking at Manchester’s new Integrated Care System. The second session will focus on healthcare and integration in rural and coastal areas and the particular challenges faced in those areas.

The first evidence session will start at 3.05pm on Monday 27 March and can be watched live or on demand at Parliament TV or in person in Committee Room 3, Palace of Westminster.

The witnesses giving evidence to the Committee will be:

  • Rt Hon Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester
  • Mark Fisher CBE, CEO at NHS Greater Manchester Integrated Care

  • Ms Nora Corkery, CEO at Devon Communities Together
  • Mr Ivan Annibal, Managing Director at Rose Regeneration
  • Professor Sheena Asthana, Professor of Health Policy and Director at Plymouth, Institute of Health and Care Research

In the first session questions will focus on how Manchester’s Integrated Care System seeks to coordinate primary and community care, as well as the barriers that have had to be overcome to develop integrated care. The Committee will also ask Mr Burnham and Mr Fisher about how they are tackling health inequalities in Greater Manchester and promoting better public health.

The second session will consider the health challenges in rural and coastal areas and how these impact on efforts to better integrate primary and community care, as well as how technology can provide health benefits for people in these areas.
