Dissolution of Parliament

The dissolution of Parliament took place on Thursday 30 May 2024. All business in the House of Commons and House of Lords has come to an end. There are currently no MPs and every seat in the Commons is vacant until after the general election on 4 July 2024.

Lord Deben appears before Lords Environment and Climate Change Committee

The House of Lords Environment and Climate Change Committee will hear from Lord Deben, former Chair of the Climate Change Committee, in a one-off session on Tuesday 5 July from 12.10pm.

The session can be followed live or afterwards on Parliament TV or in person in the Palace of Westminster (committee room 3).

Questions from the committee will cover the following areas:

  • The Climate Change Committee’s structure and relationship with government
  • Recent reports published by the Climate Change Committee, including the 2023 Progress Report to Parliament
  • Working collaboratively to achieve climate targets
