The dissolution of Parliament took place on Thursday 30 May 2024. All business in the House of Commons and House of Lords has come to an end. There are currently no MPs and every seat in the Commons is vacant until after the general election on 4 July 2024.

Infrastructure and Projects Authority to give evidence to Built Environment Committee

At 10.30am on Tuesday 10 January 2023, the House of Lords Built Environment Committee will hear evidence from Nick Smallwood, chief executive officer of the Infrastructure and Projects Authority.

This evidence session is part of the Committee’s inquiry on infrastructure policymaking and implementation in central government.

This session, which is open to the public, will be held in Committee Room 4 of the House of Lords and streamed live on Parliament TV.

Topics likely to be covered in this session include:

  • The remit of the Infrastructure and Projects Authority (IPA).
  • How the IPA coordinates with the National Infrastructure Commission, the Infrastructure Bank, the Cabinet Office and HM Treasury.
  • The IPA’s powers of intervention if a project starts to run over time or budget.
  • The role of the IPA in the post-project evaluation of major infrastructure.
  • Best practice internationally for infrastructure delivery.
