Lords Digital Skills Committee visits Google Campus and Guardian Media Group
The House of Lords' Digital Skills Committee has visited the workplaces of two pioneers in the digital world, Google and Guardian Media Group, publisher of the Guardian.
As part of their inquiry into digital skills and the competitiveness of the UK, the Committee went on a tour of the offices of Guardian Media Group and Google Campus in London.
The purpose of the visit was for Committee Members to see both how digital technologies are being produced at Google Campus and to learn about how Guardian Media Group is using digital technology to innovate and grow its global footprint.
Commenting on the visit, the Committee's Chair, Baroness Morgan of Huyton, said:
“The technology harnessed by a handful of pioneering organisations continues to transform the way we live our lives, and The Guardian and Google are two such trailblazers. Our Committee has learnt an enormous amount from visiting their workplaces, listening to their staff, and understanding the challenges they face.
In terms of our inquiry into the UK's digital skills, it has been hugely informative to witness how they have coped with preparing their workforce for the digital future. We hope to incorporate our learning from this visit into our final report next year.”

The visit to the offices of the Guardian Media Group and Google Campus took place on Tuesday 2 September.
